PhD scholarships in Microbiome Synthetic Biology
We are seeking a number of talented and motivated PhD students at the Bacterial Synthetic Biology section led by Professor Morten Sommer at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark.
The present opportunity relates to a recent grant obtained by the group to use synthetic biology to develop engineered bacterial therapeutics for the gut microbiome. The comprises PIs spanning preclinical through to clinical researchers and has as a goal to test these novel synthetic biology interventions in human clinical trials.
Responsibilities and tasks
Expected starting date (flexible): April-September 2018.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering.
Overall preferred applicants have excellent academic track record, solid research experience and is highly motivated towards developing new technology and making scientific breakthroughs.

Approval and Enrolment

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
