DYPA event for the European Year of Skills: "Empowering Greece with Skills for a Sustainable Future", March 4th, 2024
Organized by the Greek Public Employment Service, DYPA, the flagship event for the European Year of Skills in Greece, "Empowering Greece with Skills for a Sustainable Future", is going to be held at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center on Monday, March 4th, 2024, at 10:30 am.
The event will be attended by:Margarits Schinas,European Commission Vice President;Akis Skertsos, Minister of State;Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of Economy and Finance; Adonis Georgiadis, Minister of Health;Domna Michailidou,Minister of Labour and Social Insurance;Sofia Zacharaki, Minister of Social Cohesion and the Family;Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of Digital Governance, and Spiros Protopsaltis,DYPA Governor and National Skills Coordinator. Nicolas Schmit,European Commissioner of Jobs and Social Rights,is also going to address the event audience.
The event is aimed at facilitating a fruitful exchange of views on the key issue of Skills, as highlighted by the fact that the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen declared 2023 to be the European Year of Skills, with a view to supporting the labour force and strengthening businesses towards ensuring the EU’s social and economic development.
The event is structured around the following thematic sessions:
- Skills for a new economy
- Skills for an accessible and inclusive workplace
- Working as one: Education, training and employment systems
- A digital agenda for social transformation.
Throughout the event various discussions will be held among representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Greek Government, social partners, universities, top executives from leading businesses, as well as DYPA VET students and beneficiaries of DYPA training programmes funded under the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

The conclusions to be drawn during the event discussions are going to subsequently act as a reference point for the next steps to be taken by all participants to strengthen upskilling measures, so that Greece can attain the targets set in the context of the "Europe 2030" EU Strategy.
