DYPA effectively responds to labour market needs by systematically strengthening ALMPs
Earlier today, Mario Nava, Director-General, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, European Commission (EC), visited DYPA’s model office for citizens from vulnerable groups (GEKO). This visit was part of his meeting with DYPA Governor Spiros Protopsaltis and Deputy Governor Yanna Hormova.
Key topics of discussion included the record numbers of 200,000 job placements through DYPA employment programs, 270,000 trainees certified in digital and green skills through RRF-funded DYPA training programmes, as well as the overall positive outcomes of the ALMPs implemented by DYPA over the past few years, as established in a recent study conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Additionally, there was a special focus on DYPA’s initiatives aimed at strengthening support for vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, former convicts, former substance users and victims of gender-based or domestic violence, emphasizing targeted measures for employment promotion and upskilling.
Mario Nava’s visit highlights the EC’s interest in the initiatives and work accomplished by DYPA over the recent years.
DYPA Governor Spiros Protopsaltis said: “Today’s meeting with the EC’s Director-General for Employment, Social Affairs, and Inclusion, Mario Nava, confirms our fruitful collaboration, as DYPA fully leverages available EU funding and expertise to further reduce unemployment and increase employment. We informed Mario Nava about our latest initiatives and future plans, and we discussed ways to enhance their effectiveness.
We consistently implement targeted ALMPs, next-generation measures and upskilling programmes, emphasizing the critical role of lifelong learning in achieving quality and sustainable jobs. By utilizing the available tools and developing innovative interventions, DYPA is and shall remain a reliable partner for all citizens trying to attain their employment goals and all businesses seeking well-trained staff.”
