The Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) takes part in the "Vocational Education and Training (VET) Excellence" project. In this framework the German Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Federation of Industries of Greece (SBE) organised for the first time the "VET Excellence Awards Greece 2024".

It is a competition which showcases the businesses offering quality apprenticeship schemes and the proficiency of the trainers in the participating businesses. The award ceremony will take place today, Sunday, September 8th, during a special event on the central stage of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).

DYPA's involvement is two-fold, DYPA's representative participated in the process of the criteria drafting and also in the Committee which evaluated and selected the award-winning businesses and the trainers. A key criterion for the businesses is the quality and standing collaboration in terms of offering apprenticeship posts and for the trainer their ability to form the young Vocational Education and Training (VET) professionals.

The award-winning businesses are "PORTOKALOKIPOS Kindergarten - Nursery school" and "Atrium Hotels & Resorts", for their cooperation with DYPA and more specifically with the 2nd Apprenticeship Vocational School (EPAS) in Thessaloniki and the Experimental Apprenticeship Vocational School (PEPAS) in Rhodes respectively.

In the category of trainers, the awards went to Konstantinos Tsampardas, trainer in "Klimataria" traditional restaurant, which collaborates with the Tripoli DYPA EPAS, and Konstantinos Papazafiris, trainer in Grecotel Casa Marron, which offers apprenticeship posts to students from the Patras DYPA PEPAS.

The 'VET Excellence Awards Greece' certify the high quality of vocational education provided by DYPA's Schools and demonstrate their successful connection to the labour market, with 71.6% of the 123 registered companies collaborating with DYPA's EPAS and PEPAS Schools.

The event coincides with the launch of the "Open Day – Get to know the DYPA Schools" event, which started today in the presence of the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Niki Kerameos, DYPA's Governor, Spiros Protopsaltis, and the three Deputy Governors.
