Open Day Γνώρισε τις Σχολές της ΔΥΠΑ - Λαμία

Aiming at highlighting vocational education and its key role for Greece's future labour force, the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) continues to organise "Open Day" events in various cities of Greece. The initiative that started this year from Karditsa, Larisa, Volos and Athens, now has come to Lamia as well.

The Lamia Open Day event that was held in the facilities of the DYPA EPAS and  IEK, proved to be an excellent opportunity to inform the public, especially young persons and their parents, about the different study programmes/ curricula and the professional perspectives the DYPA apprenticeship schools have to offer.

Persons visiting the he EPAS and IEK facilities had the opportunity to have a guided tour to the laboratories and to learn about the offered fields of studies/ specialities. At the same time, they had the chance to watch interactive presentations by the EPAS apprentices studying to become hairdresser, IT system support executive and Technician for Conventional and Electric Cars. Furthermore, IEK students presented fields of study/ specialities such as surgery (scrub) nursing assistant, paramedic -ambulance crew, pharmacy assistant, beauty and make up art Technician, aesthetics of podology–nail cosmetics and nails Technician and occupational therapy assistant.

An important feature of the Lamia Open Day was the briefing about the dual apprenticeship system implemented in the DYPA EPAS, which combines the apprenticeship in the actual work place with the theoretical training at the school. This dual system helps apprentices not only to acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge, but also to gain specialised practical experience, with full wages and social insurance.

Furthermore, DYPA partnerships’ with leading businesses in their respective sectors ensure the adaptation of the study programmes to the labour market needs and also facilitate the DYPA EPAS and IEK graduates to find a job.

Additionally to the presentation of the educational opportunities, the Lamia Open Day stresses the key role of vocational education and training for the development of the local economy. Ensuring that the study programmes/ curricula correspond to the constantly changing labour market needs, DYPA aims at developing specialised labour force, which in its turn will become a reinforcing factor for the promotion of economic development and social cohesion.

Furthermore, aiming at the actual upgrading of the technical vocational education and the overall quality of the educational work of the DYPA EPAS, using funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, DYPA is moving forward with the plan to renovate the laboratories and school buildings in order to provide a truly modern educational environment.
