Sickness and Medical Care subsidies for unemployed people
- Sickness subsidies in kind for unemployed people aged up to 29 years old
Unemployed young people up to the age of 29 are covered by the Social Security Institute's insurance for sickness subsidies in kind, after an application they submit to the Social Security Institute's branches of their place of residence.
The unemployed in question should, when submitting their application for inclusion in the program, provide a certificate from the Greek Public Employment Service confirming they have been registered as unemployed for at least two months prior to submitting their application, are still unemployed and hold an unemployment card that is renewed every three months They must also be uninsured, not studying and once employed they must declare it at the Social Security Institute's branch of their place of residence.
The sick card issued is valid for one semester and is renewed upon presentation of a new certificate from the Greek Public Employment Service, certifying that they are still unemployed.

Unemployed over the age of 29 to 55, after an application they submit to the insurance institution with which they are insured before the interruption of their work, are covered for sickness benefits in kind by it for a period of up to two (2) years. If they are insured with more than one insurance organization, they are covered by the insurance organization with which they have been insured for the longest period of time.
The unemployed in question should, when submitting their application for inclusion in the program, provide a certificate from DYPA that they are registered as unemployed for a continuous period of at least twelve months before submitting their application for inclusion in the insurance, are still unemployed and that they have unemployment card renewed quarterly.
They will also have to provide a certificate from the relevant insurance institution in which it will be confirmed that: a) they have completed six hundred (600) working days in the insurance of any insurance organization, added after the completion of the thirtieth (30th) and up to the fifty-fourth (54th) ) year of age by one hundred (100) days per year and that b) are not insured for any reason by the State or an insurance organization.

Long-term unemployed over the age of 55 years old, after an application they submit to the Social Security Institute's branches of their place of residence, are covered for the sickness subsidies in kind branch if they have at any time made at least (3000) three thousand daily wages in the sickness insurance of the Social Security Institute. The above insurance coverage starts from the date of submission of their application for insurance and ends with their retirement from any Insurance Organization. Also, long-term unemployed over the age of 55, who have completed the required by the relevant insurance legislation body number of daily wages for granting the lowest old-age pension (4500 daily wages), covered by the Social Security Institute for the sector of sickness subsidies in kind.
A necessary condition in both cases is the registration of the unemployed in the registers of the Greek Public Employment Service for a continuous twelve months before the submission of their application for inclusion in the insurance of the IKA, and a relevant certificate from the relevant insurance institution.
