Presentation of the DYPA - AMAZON co-operations
DYPA and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security organised the event to present the expansion of the cooperation between DYPA and Amazon (AWS).
On July 2021 DYPA and Amazon Web Services signed a memorandum of understanding to promote their cooperation in the fields of innovation, economic growth and labour force development. To that effect initiatives and actions are implemented for the training of the labour force in the computing cloud, promotion of education of future generations in digital skills and promotion of businesses with the use of the cloud in Greece.
Now both sides further expand their cooperation, initially via a Training Programme titled "Cloud Practitioner Essentials AWS", which concerns the synchronous distance training to 1.000 unemployed persons aged 18-60. The main purpose of the programme is to enable unemployed persons to acquire skills and to enhance their employability through an overall understanding of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.
An integrated training and certification programme for up to 1.000 unemployed persons will follow and training providers will be payed based on the number of job placements. End goal of the programme is for participants to obtain expertise in digital thematic fields of high demand in the labour market without the condition of the previous relevant work experience and the immediate placement in jobs relevant to the training field, a responsibility of the training provider.
Furthermore, these co-operations will continue with the support provided to DYPA by Amazon for the operation of an innovative training centre and more specifically in thematic fields of the Information Technology. Beneficiaries are Persons with Disabilities with medium and high functioning autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The new structure will initially operate in Athens (in a specially designed space) as a separate wing of the Athens School for Disabled Persons, in Galatsi.
