Building Maintenance Training Programme at the Trikala Detention Facility
The Larissa DYPA KEK trains "Building Maintenance Workers" in the Trikala Detention Facility
DYPA pursues its training work in the Trikala Detention Facility with a new vocational training programme titled “Building Maintenance Workers” (duration: 250 hours).
Through the programme, a group of inmates has the chance to acquire technical and occupational skills related to plumbing, electrical, mechanical and construction works and installations. The programme also includes New Technologies modules and Counselling Support.
The training programme is a collaborative initiative of DYPA and the General Directorate of Anticrime and Correctional Policy of the Greek Ministry of Citizen Protection. It is aimed at enhancing the participating inmates’ employability during their detention period, as well as their re-integration into the labour market and society at large, after their release.
Helping to address the woes of imprisonment through the creation of the training contract, hope was born “within the prison walls” today, 07/06/2023.
One more training cycle just started in the Trikala Detention Centre, with Director Maria Litsiou and the Larissa DYPA KEK trainers playing a key part.
The training of inmates’ trainers and the training contract with the group of inmates were implemented by Kelly Gerostergiou, Head of the Department of Vocational Education, Training and Day Nurseries of the Regional Directorate of Thessaly, in co-operation with the Director of the Larissa DYPA KEK Dimitris Gerasis.
