The European Year of Skills at DYPA’s 26th Career Day in Crete
A booth, especially designed for the European Year of Skills, hosts apprentices from the Heraklion Crete EPAS at DYPA's 26th "Career Day" in Heraklion.
Throughout the event visitors have the opportunity to talk with DYPA officers and receive information on the initiatives and upskilling programmes for young people, unemployed persons and employees.
DYPA operates Apprenticeship Vocational Schools (EPAS) all over Greece and one is located in Heraklion Crete. It offers fields of study/ specialties in sectors of the technical and vocational education such as: hairdressing technician, culinary art technician, electrical systems technician, thermal and hydraulic facilities technician, electrical system technician for conventional and electric cars, computer systems support technician and administrative and financial services officer.
In Heraklion there is also a DYPA Vocational Training Institute (IEK), which offers older persons the opportunity to participate in Vocational Training in fields of study/ specialties such as: early childhood educator assistant, nutrition and dietetics executive, health administration and economics executive, computerized accounting and tax office executive, thermal installations, oil technology and natural gas technician, vehicle mechatronics technician, computer systems technician, technician of medicines, cosmetics & similar products and tour guide.
DYPA initiatives are developed with the end goal to adapt to the needs of the labour market, and thus the fields of study/ specialities of both EPAS' and IEKs may be modified to better respond to local markets’ needs.
Apprentices and members of the teaching staff from the local EPAS attended the event DYPA "Career Day" in Heraklion Crete and visited the European Year of Skills’ booth. They talked with visitors and presented actions pertaining to their fields of study/ specialities.
