The European Year of Skills at DYPA’s career day the Blue Economy
On Saturday, April 27th, DYPA organised another thematic "Career Day" at the Stone Warehouse of the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP).
Due to the fact that various sectors of the economic activity record increased labour force needs in terms of staff with specialised knowledge and skills, DYPA develops the necessary reflexes to stand by the businesses and mainly to offer more employment opportunities to jobseekers.
More than 70 businesses offering 1.000 jobs participated in the Career Day for the Blue Economy. These are businesses active in sectors of the blue economy, such as shipping, coastal shipping, marine tourism - yachting, shipyards, etc).
The European Year of Skills was also promoted during the event with a specially dedicated desk. Visitors had the opportunity to communicate with DYPA officers and received information on the goals of the European Year of Skills but more to the point on the work DYPA offers in the field of skills and on the actions to strengthen the study programmes/ curricula and to upgrade the building and laboratory facilities of its schools throughout Greece.
At the same time visitors were able to communicate with apprentices and their teaching staff from the Elefsina and Piraeus EPAS’ and to watch their presentations relating to certain fields of study/ specialties offered by the two schools.
Taking into consideration that the Career Days organised by DYPA are an important hub for meeting and informing both business representatives and citizens of all ages, the event was also an excellent opportunity to bring them together and at the same time to raise wider awareness of the importance and purposes of the European Year of Skills.
