DYPA and Huawei cooperation aimed at strengthening women’s employment and reducing the digital gap

A special event marking the start of the 2nd cycle of the "Women in Tech" vocational training programme was held earlier today in Athens, at the premises of the official training provider, “Interlei". The event was attended by Yanna Hormova, Deputy Governor of the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA), and Kevin Wang, Executive Director Huawei Southeast Europe.

The successful DYPA-Huawei cooperation, aimed at upskilling unemployed women and reducing the digital gap in the labour market, is now entering its 2nd Cycle, providing vocational training in such fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Skills Development for Career Advancement. Importantly, the new cycle, with a total duration of 100 hours, is addressed to a higher number of participants: 665 unemployed women in total.

Taking into due account current labour market needs, trends in ICT, and the "Digital Decade" targets set by the EU for the year 2030, DYPA implements targeted measures to enhance citizens' digital maturity, thus supporting their integration into quality jobs and expanding Greece’s talent pool for the benefit of companies reporting difficulties in finding skilled workers.

DYPA’s Deputy Governor, Yanna Hormova, stated: "DYPA consistently invests in new targeted measures to boost women's employment through programmes providing new digital skills and employment opportunities in high demand sectors of the labour market. Thus, we are particularly pleased to continue our cooperation with Huawei, which has already proven to be particularly successful. The new cycle of the "Women in Tech" programme is going to create new employment prospects for even more unemployed women aged 25-50, 665 in total: an impressive 33% increase. DYPA's successful collaboration with Huawei will help participants enrich their CVs with knowledge and skills particularly sought after in the ICT industry".
