Integrated training and employment programme for unemployed GMI beneficiaries and homeless people

 

Objective

The programme is aimed at preventing and addressing unemployment by upgrading the knowledge and skills of unemployed persons and placing them in subsidised employment.

 

Beneficiaries

Registered unemployed persons who are also GMI (Guaranteed Minimum Income) beneficiaries and homeless.

 

Eligible businesses

Private businesses and, generally, private-sector employers regularly engaging in economic activity in all regions of Greece.

 

Duration

The training component lasts eighty (80) hours; employment lasts twelve (12) months.

 

Subsidy amount

  • The business subsidy amounts to 100% of the total wage and non-wage costs, namely: €1,118 per month; €13,416 in total).
  • If the business opts for the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER) state aid status, the subsidy amounts to 50% of the total wage and non-wage costs.
  • The subsidy includes Christmas, Easter and holiday bonuses.

 

Procedure

  • Businesses may apply online through the Public Administration Single Digital Portal:

  • Businesses may choose the state aid status they are interested in.
  • Businesses shall specify the number of jobs, occupations, and required qualifications.
  • DYPA shall evaluate the business application for the programme within 10 working days and confirm whether the applying business meets the conditions of the programme.
  • DYPA’s employment counsellors shall refer candidates to the respective businesses in accordance with the qualifications required for each job, within 5 working days from the approval decision date.
  • Each business shall preselect the most suitable candidates within 10 working days.
  • DYPA shall notify the jobseeker the business has preselected by any appropriate means within 3 days.
  • The preselected candidates shall complete an online application form, select and attend a training programme (for office clerks or salespersons) and subsequently take the certification test.
  • Upon completion of the certification process, the business shall proceed with the hiring of the beneficiary.
